If you’ve ever seen an attractive stranger in a bar, on a train or in a store and then regretted not approaching them you probably know how New Yorker Patrick Moberg feels.

Having seen “the girl of his dreams” on a subway train, the Big Apple-based illustrator created a website to help him find the rosy-cheeked brunette who caught his eye as she wrote in her journal.

Mr Moberg caught the 5 train from Union Square to bowling Green at around 9.30pm on Sunday night when he saw his mysterious beauty with the flower in her braided hair.

Mr Moberg insists on the site, nygirlofmydrems.com, that he is “not insane” but he’s hoping the site will help him find the mysterious woman who took his fancy.

His eccentric quest has attracted the attention of gossip sites around the world, with commentators divided on whether Mr Moberg is refreshingly sweet or just plain creepy.

This happened a few years ago.

I always thought this was so sweet. The story always makes me smile – I think it’s terribly romantic (and would probably make a great movie!)

I just thought of it again after seeing this story about the girl (Camille Hayton) who apparently has a role in Neighbours now.

Sadly, the two star crossed lovers are not together though :(

When contacted by ninemsn news, Mr Moberg said it was early on in his search but he remains hopeful of finding his dream woman.

” The quest continues,” he said via email. “No progress yet, but I’m staying optimistic.”

Mr Moberg asks visitors to the site to “pass this on to anyone who might help” and he’s provided a phone number for the lady in question, should she wish to make contact.
