Insidious

2009 November 17

This is a brilliant saying, and so very true unfortunately.

That’s the thing about depression: A human being can survive almost anything, as long as she sees the end in sight. But depression is so insidious, and it compounds daily, that it’s impossible to ever see the end. The fog is like a cage without a key.

When you are in the middle of a period of feeling extremely low, it is like being locked in a kind of prison. There’s no looking back to find experiences to draw on to help you to deal, and no looking forward to find inspiration to carry on. There’s just….darkness.

I applaud your boldness and truly admire your vulnerable sincerity. Thank you for sharing your struggles with others; they are echoed by so many people and there is great comfort in knowing you’re not alone in how you feel. You are truly an everyday hero and I wish you all the best.
