‘Celebrity Psychings’ Article // Charity and Campaign Involvement Over The Holidays

2009 December 18

The lovely Alicia Sparks – who has always been an amazing supporter of EmsCharityKiss – has written an article about the benefits of getting involved in a charity or campaign over the holiday season.

She has been kind enough to mention EmsCharityKiss as a recommended campaign, along with some truly amazing and inspiring campaigns such as:

No Kidding, Me Too!

Actor Joe Pantoliano’s NKM2 is “an organization whose purpose is to remove the stigma attached to brain dis-ease through education and the breaking down of societal barriers. Our goal is to empower those with brain dis-ease to admit their illness, seek treatment, and become even greater members of society.

Bring Change 2 Mind

Launched by actor Glenn Close and her sister Jesse, Bring Change 2 Mind is a nonprofit organization geared toward helping raise awareness about mental illness – “the stigma associated with the illness, can be as great a challenge as the disease itself. This is where the misconceptions stop. This is where bias comes to an end. This is where we change lives. Because this is where we Bring Change 2 Mind.”

Blueprint For Hope

Paige Hemmis (extreme makeover, home edition) took her own experiences with depression and joined forces with  the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA), Dr. Jesse H. Wright, and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals to create a depression awareness campaign, hoping to not only offer support and tools for people suffering depression, but to also advocate against common misconceptions and educate the wider public about the disease.

This post is part of a series Alicia is featuring called ‘Holiday Shopping With Celebrities’. Please check out her blog today!
